I wanted to do something this evening with only Speedlites, no studio strobes. So I built this one light at time to get the look I wanted and it took 3 flashes to do it.

I normally don't comment on these as studio lighting is not something that really interests me. However, I think that this might be your best example. Everything looks great with lots of definition for the shapes without having awkward shadows. Keep notes on this setup, I'm sure you will use it many times.

I draw up every setup and note all the settings. With my memory I have to! With warmer weather coming on I will be using my speedlites more outside, so I figured I should get a little practice in. I wanted to start this shot with the key light camera right, so that is how I started. Here is the setup shot:
