I really like the desert photos like this. If you ever decide to create a book (such as the ones Mark does) this one would make a perfect cover photo.

I have actually been debating that very thing flop but i need to make a few more trips into the area. here soon the cold will set in and i might be able to make it back in and get some good images. Some of the areas here get dustings of snow which really changes the look of the land. today they said it could be as hot as 115 degrees where this image was taken. to hot for me lol.

Very nice shot, John. I especially like the fact that the horizon isn't evenly lighted. The horizon on the right is barely discernible, but on the left it's much more defined.
The odd aspect ratio makes me wonder, Is that a cropped-down image of a larger shot, or is that a photo-merge of several shots?

Width wise it was not cropped but i felt that there was to much dark sky at the top. i was thinking of doing a canvas print with this one. The only decent photomerge i did actually turned out to large and i have had a hard time bringing it down to size. i may try to upload as an attachment cause it will not fit on photobucket.

Really pretty, John! When you say 'merge' is that a panorama stitched?

Really pretty, John! When you say 'merge' is that a panorama stitched? In Photoshop they call it photo merge. it will take upto 10 images i believe, the second image was using 5-6 images i guess you could call it stitched together. the first is just one shot croped for height.

I like that...especially the way it fades from one side to the other.... Honestly, That was luck lol. I took three pictures pointed across the western sky and the first one happened to be it.

I'll take blind luck over skill anytime. One of the best shots I've taken was captured through a windshield, on high speed continuous, traveling down the highway at 70 mph with my little Fuji.....more of a happy accident! Love your desert shot!
