I've finally gotten got a few free minutes to actually get on here and spend some time, and I figure its time to really introduce myself for those that don't already know me. My name is Greg and I am a photographer (looks over to the wings to get a judgement.... Yep, I have a camera, therefore I am a photographer ).
It was Steve (Floppydog) and Bob (Orcabob) who got things rolling and decided to invite me in as the third Stooge here ;D . I am honored to be in their company for this undertaking, and I have high hopes for this site. The three of us are photographers, who have more than an average interest in the art. Because of this we will be active in this board, and will have a presence here unlike some boards where you never see those who started it.
Anyway, I digress....like I was saying, I have been into photography on a serious level since the end of 2004 when I started reading about the subject. The beginning of 2005 marked when I actually started creating pictures rather than taking them. I found that I loved working landscapes, and that I had a passion for waterfalls. This is where my talent lies, but I do tinker with portraits from time to time (got to make money somhow).
I am a purist and know very little about post processing. I try to get things right in the field with the camera instead of at home at the computer. This is just my choice, and I don't dismiss the control of post processing. My goals with photography are simple, but difficult. I would love to be able to supplement my retirement (in 2029) with sales of my prints. This won't be easy since landscape photographers are a dime a dozen these days.
That's ok, because when it all comes down to it, photography is a hobby, and a source of enjoyment and learning. I've found that there is no end to what can be learned when it comes to this art. There is always a new technique or skill that can be learned and used. Because I am self taught through reading and doing, I intend to share the little bit that I know through this forum so that others can learn about this marvelous craft as well.
I hope that everyone enjoys Aperture Artists!!!
