I like it. Very sharp -- a slightly shortened DoF but everybody's recognizable -- and that corn in the background. So very Midwest!

That is very sharp! What glass are you using?

That is very sharp! What glass are you using? Like the bridge photo I posted elsewhere this photo was taken with a Canon 200mm f/2.8L lens. This was on a cropped sensor (40D) with an aperture of f/11 and a shutter speed of 1/132. When I use it to do environmental portraits I just go wide open, like this shot: It does a pretty good job on close ups too:

When I see photos like these, I'm tempted to cross over to the dark side. (Canon)

I've seen results from some Nikon glass that made me think the same thing!!! ;D But my wife would kill me!! Exactly. With Nikkor glass, I once shot a model from about 8 feet away under studio lights and was able to resolve the brand-name on her tinted contacts. One of my favorite soccer shots was of a girl on the sidelines in a stormy night game. From 50-60 feet away you could resolve backlit hairs on her arms. The one thing I've noticed about Canon glass is that it's faster on the autofocus than the glass I've used.

The one thing I've noticed about Canon glass is that it's faster on the autofocus than the glass I've used. And with marching bands you need that fast AF, which is another reason I like to shoot primes when I can.
