Yep, you did a perfect panning job which helps draw the A-10 away from the background.

you know, someone called this a warhog at the airshow and i thought i had been sayin it wrong all these years. anyone know anything I should have done different here?

I'd say the main thing is shoot the plane once it's cleared the line of buildings. It gets lost in that background.

In addition to waiting for it to clear the buildings, a tighter shot would be nice. This could either be done through cropping, a longer lens, or moving in closer. The panning helps to make it the focus, but there is a lot of blurred dead space in relation to the size of your subject. Just include enough of the background to give a sense of location and speed.
