Perserverance I hate to see a forum dedicated to waterfalls and moving water go dormant this long...especially when I am on the staff. I'm going to get things rolling here with a couple of examples of waterfall photography. This first image is actually one that I will be entering in a contest at the beginning of October so wish me luck. It shows an example of capturing the entire waterfall in a single image. What Lies Beneath This is another example of how to pick out a section of the waterfall to get a more powerful image than if we tried to capture the entire scene. This image represents maybe a 15 foot section of a 150 foot wide waterfall. The trick is to pay attention to composition when picking out an intimate element. Make everything flow and include enough that the image carries itself. Now, lets see some more moving water!

I'm toying with the idea of doing my next Tips and Tricks on waterfall photography. If I do it for this next article, I'll post a mirrored copy of it here for the members to read and discuss. There are a lot of little tricks that can be used for waterfalls, and usually its the more unorthodox methods that really make them pop.

What kind of exposure times did you select for these images, Greg?

What kind of exposure times did you select for these images, Greg? Im not exactly sure, but I'm thinking 13 seconds on the top one and around 10 seconds on the bottom one.
