Firstly, apologies if this isn't in the correct forum - so please move if needed. I'm looking to get a new remote cable release as my old one was for the D40 and it doesn't work with the D300 I've been looking and I have found the Nikon Mc-36 however this is quite expensive but does have lots of features. Is there any other good ones out there that are less expensive? Thanks

There are several companies that make third party cables that fit the 10-pin that your D300 has. I purchased a Quantaray brand at Ritz camera for about $20. They don't have the time/interval functions that the mc-36 has, but they work fine. Here's the one that Adorama offers; www.adorama.com/CZDRD200.htmlA note on the mc-36: I have a D300s and it has the Time/Interval Shooting functions built-in to the camera. (the same functions as the mc-36) I'm not sure off-hand, but I'll bet your D300 has these also. I recieved an mc-36 cable for Christmas. It's cool, and a bit more user friendly than using the camera function, but not necessary.

Thanks FloppyDog for the advice, I've tried to look for the suggested remote here in the UK but it appears it's not sold over here.
I have come across the hahnel HRN280 Remote Shutter Cable Release for Nikon D-SLR's, some reviews I've seen are good. Anyone else had any experience with hahnel's?
