hey I am trying to figure out what the i stands for in this lens? does it work on DSLR's or is it something i would have to manually focus all the time? anyone have any knowledge on this lens?

John, the "i" stands for "internal" which refers to the lens having an integrated motor for the auto-focus function. The AF-i's are older lenses (replaced by AF-s) and are used on cameras that don't have the focus motor in the camera such as the D40. I don't know how well it would work on your D90.

Also the older lenses (pre-digital) do not have the rear element coatings needed to reduce digital sensor flare (coatings are different than film lenses), therefore reducing image quality. So I've been told.

Thanks guys. wanted to do a little reserch before I made a bid on one that is semi local. was not sure if this would creat the same issues some of the older lenses do for digital or not.
