I took this last weekend, someone I know who arranged the event, and who boxed himself, asked if I'd go and take some photos. Never done anything like this before. Any criticisms are greatfully received ;D Attachments:

Pretty good for a first time. This type of venue is always difficult, especially in a non-commercial arena. Overall, I think it's pretty good.

I agree with Jim. Lighting's the big problem.
One very good thing about the pic: you got the boxers between the ropes. One idea: If you can get permission from your friend try getting right at ringside and stick your camera under the bottom ropes so your shots are free of the ropes.
If you want to make the most of your opportunity in shooting boxing, research the work of Neil Liefer. He shot a lot of sports, but he's probably best known for his boxing photographs.
